Food Works DocumentaryFood Works is filming a documentary highlighting the past, present and future conditions of the local food system in Southern Illinois. Besides being a valuable means of consumer education, the film will be important for informing our policy makers and those working on economic development in the region about the prospects for developing a robust local food economy. We have enlisted the skills of Mike Covell, a retired professor in the Cinema and Photography Department at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and founder of the Big Muddy Film Festival. Working from a long list of growers, researchers, historians, and consumers, our crew is nearly finished filming interviews and testimonials and is moving on to transcription, narration and graphic design. Documentary production is slated for completion in 2012. Check back for screening locations throughout the region. |
